Practical Ed Tech Tip of the Week – A Cleaner YouTube

Update November 24, 2015: Unfortunately, the tool featured in this post, A Cleaner Internet, is no longer available.

YouTube can be a great source of educational material to share in your classroom. Unfortunately, if you try to search YouTube in front of a class you’re open to the possibility that something inappropriate will pop-up. I learned that the hard way years ago when I did a search for videos about “women’s suffrage.” To prevent inappropriate “related” videos appearing on the screen I use a browser extension called A Cleaner Internet. This extension clears out the related videos, comments, and other sidebar content while you’re viewing a YouTube video. The video below demonstrates how to install it.
