Come to Maine for Professional Development This Summer

Since the end of last year I have been fielding questions every week about whether or not I would be hosting the Practical Ed Tech Summer Camps again this year. I’m happy to say that the answer is yes! This summer will be the 5th year in a row that I have hosted professional development workshops in Maine. This year will be the second year that I will be hosting two events. The first, on July 20th and 21st, is the Practical Ed Tech Chromebook Camp. The second event, on July 27th and 28th, is the Practical Ed Tech BYOD Camp. Registration is now open for both events. Subscribers to the Practical Ed Tech newsletter can receive an additional $25 discount in addition to the early registration discount by using the code “subscriber” when completing the online registration forms before April 1st.

Where?
The Practical Ed Tech Chromebook Camp and the Practical Ed Tech BYOD Camp are held in Portland, Maine at the Holiday Inn By The Bay. This location is chosen because it is just a couple of blocks from great ocean-front dining, is easy to access, and puts you close to all kinds of tourist activities. The Holiday Inn By The Bay gives us a great rate for hotel rooms that is hard to find anywhere else in the area.

Who comes to the Practical Ed Tech?
Classroom teachers, teacher-librarians, technology coaches, and school administrators have come from all over the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Some people have come for two or three years. One person has come every year.

What’s the difference between the two events?
While the framework for both events is similar, the Chromebook Camp is designed for people who work in schools that have Chromebooks for students to use while the BYOD Camp is tailored to people who work in schools that have iPads, Macs, Windows, Android devices, or a mix of devices. Read more about the Chromebook Camp here. Read more about the BYOD camp here.

What does it cost?
If you register online by May 1st the cost is $447. People who are subscribed to the Practical Ed Tech newsletter can save an additional $25 when registering online before April 1st. Last year both events sold out. Breakfast and lunch is included for both days in your registration fees. Group discounts are available to school districts sending five or more people.

Registration after May 1st or registrations that are not completed through the online form cost $497.
