How to Create Videos on a Chromebook Without Extensions or Apps

During a virtual staff meeting this week I was asked for help with making a basic video on a Chromebook. By “basic” we’re talking about just recording something, saving it, and sharing it just like you might do with the camera on your smartphone. I’m sure that my colleague wasn’t the only person wondering how to do that so I made a video and a set of annotated screenshots.

In the following video I demonstrate how to create a simple video on a Chromebook. The key points of the video are:

  • How to access the camera on your Chromebook. 
  • Where to find your video file. 
  • How to share your video file with students.
