About ten days ago Canva launched their new documents tool. It has all of the features that you’d expect from a modern document creation tool including collaboration, commenting, and inclusion of multimedia. It also has a neat feature that is simply named “convert.”
Convert in Canva Documents will take your document and turn it into a slideshow for you. The conversion is based on the headings, paragraphs, and lists that you have in your document. Basically, every heading becomes its own slide. The paragraphs and lists in your document are added to each slide. The whole process takes just a couple of minutes and Canva gives you a set of six to eight slide styles to pick from for each document that you convert.
Watch this video to see how Canva converts your documents into a slideshow.
The shortcoming of Canva’s automatic document to slides conversion tool is that it doesn’t add images to your slides unless you had images in your document. Fortunately, you can use Canva’s gallery to add images to the slides after the conversion.
For people who have lesson outlines or lecture outlines that need to be used for slideshow presentations, Canva’s new conversion tool could be a huge time-saver.
